Position: Inside Outside Sales Representative

Job Type: Full Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Language Requirements: English

Working Conditions: Hybrid (4 days of travel on the road)

Location and Territory: Territory coverage includes travel to (but not limited to) accounts between Nanaimo, Cobble Hill, Parksville, and Campbell River

Purpose:

This role acts as a dual Outside/Inside Sales Representative within a specified territory.  As an Outside Sales Representative, the role will develop potential customers and maintain existing customers at projected sales levels by visiting customers in person for a specified number of hours per week.  In addition, this position acts as an Inside Sales Representative for a specified number of hours per week and will seek to both increase sales as well as provide enhanced customer service to assigned customer base. Utilizes telephone, email, and fax to communicate to assigned customer base on a regular basis.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Delivers on sales targets and responsible for executing targeted number of customer calls and customer emails.
  • Inputs orders from customers, upsells customers and services customers within designated customer portfolio.
  • Time and territory management to accomplish daily, weekly and monthly sales goals including defining market demographics, competitor analysis, prospecting new business and existing account knowledge.
  • Documents and resolves customer complaints.
  • Actively seeks to understand customer circumstances and business needs to find creative solutions.
  • Communicates with customers in a prompt and courteous manner to identify and capitalize on new selling opportunities and address any issues with the customer’s order.
  • Participates with UNFI Sales team to effectively maintain existing accounts, develop new business and address operational issues.
  • Provides accurate and complete sales reports to Sales Manager in a timely manner.
  • Submits appropriate and timely account information for all new and existing accounts for input into the UNFI information system.
  • Attends trade shows, events and participates in UNFI sales training, continuing education regarding company products, services and industry compliances along with other functions.
  • Performs other job duties as required.

Job Requirements:

Education/Certification(s):

  • Post Secondary education in Sales, Marketing, Business and/or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s license

Experience:

  • Previous sales experience 
  • Previous industry experience in the natural/organic CPG space an asset

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Has previous knowledge of Sales
  • Effective communicator in the English language, based on territory requirements
  • Strength in ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Aptitude for learning new computer software and related technology & systems
  • Knowledge of inside sales strategies, techniques as well as strong sales negotiation skills
  • Professional customer-oriented attitude
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Attention to detail when entering orders
  • Ability to travel to customer locations within the assigned area
  • Knowledge of the Natural and Organic food business (preferred)
  • Prior Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience considered an asset

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel to Trade Shows is required

LI-HYBRID

Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 per annum

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position.  Placement within the compensation range, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including geographic location, education, experience, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.  UNFI is committed to transparency in pay in compliance with applicable state and local laws.
You will also be eligible to participate in the following benefits programs:  Paid Time Off; Sick Time; 401K Program; medical, dental, vision, life, and accidental death/dismemberment insurance; short-term and long-term disability insurance program, Flexible Spending Account and/or Health Savings Account, subject to meeting the eligibility requirements and the terms and conditions of these programs, and subject to any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.  Select roles may also be eligible for our long-term incentive program.
